Making a change and helping people is a team effort. Here are some of the other groups we work with to promote Abortion Rights.
Abortion Rights is the national pro-choice campaign. We are campaigning to defend and extend women’s rights and access to safe, legal abortion. We oppose any attack on the 1967 Abortion Act including any attempt to lower the abortion time limit. It’s almost 50 years after the introduction of safe, legal abortion in Britain women’s rights should be advanced not driven back.
Local Edinburgh group affiliated to Abortion Rights UK, a campaigning organisation working to defend and extend women’s rights to safe, legal abortion.
Alliance for Choice is an organisation that campaigns to end the criminalisation of abortion and gain access to reproductive justice in NI.
BPAS supports reproductive choice and health by advocating and providing high quality, affordable services to prevent pregnancies with contraception or end them by abortion.
Engender has a vision for a Scotland in which women and men have equal opportunities in life, equal access to resources and power, and are equally safe and secure from harm.
Our aim is to promote human-rights-compliant options for reform of the law on abortion and maternity, and to improve public awareness of international best practice in these areas. Our advocacy is always grounded in rigorous legal research by experts in the field of reproductive rights. We are volunteer-run and we do not receive external funding. We are not a party political group.
Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS) is the national office for the rape crisis movement in Scotland. We support the work of local centres and develop new centres in areas where there are no or few specialist services. We also work with other agencies such as the police, Crown Office and health services providing training and consultancy to improve the response to those who are affected by and who perpetrate sexual violence.
Scottish Women’s Aid is the lead organisation in Scotland working towards the prevention of domestic abuse. We play a vital role coordinating, influencing and campaigning for effective responses to domestic abuse.
We assist transgender people, service providers, employers and equality organisations to engage together to improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality, rights and inclusion in Scotland. We strive for everyone in Scotland to be safe and valued whatever their gender identity and gender reassignment status and to have full freedom in their gender expression
UNISON is the UK’s largest union, serving more than 1.3 million members. We represent full-time and part-time staff who provide public services, although they may be employed in both the public and private sectors.
Equality for women isn’t a women’s issue. When women fulfill their potential, everyone benefits. Equality means better politics, a more vibrant economy, a workforce that draws on the talents of the whole population and a society at ease with itself.
